Sacred Music & Pakistani Gospel Heritage
This section preserves the 150 Punjabi Zaboor and a living archive of Pakistani Christian gospel composers, classical vocalists and musical patriarchs.
Between 1898 and 1908 Rev. Imam-ud-Din Shahbaz translated and versified all 150 biblical Psalms into native Punjabi meters, paired with classical North Indian ragas such as Bhairavi, Yaman, Pahadi and Kafi, giving Punjabi Christians a liturgy in their mother tongue.
The Pakistani Gospel Singers Archive documents historic patriarchs, master classical vocalists, pioneer hymn writers and contemporary worship artists across every decade, including the Din family musical dynasty that began with Pastor Jamil-ud-Din of the City Church of Montgomery, today Sahiwal.
