Born Noel Dias to a Christian family in Amritsar. A classically trained singer who converted to Islam and became one of Pakistan's greatest film playback singers. Originally sang gospel music before entering the Lollywood circuit where he earned two Nigar Awards (1960, 1963). Died November 25, 1983 in Vancouver, Canada.
